A bike crash that happened on Sept. 9 is likely to take the life of a 73-year-old woman. Police say the incident happened at around 1:35 p.m. on South Broad Street/Route 501. The woman was on her bicycle heading west on East Second Avenue when she tried to cross Broad Street to get to West Second Avenue. A vehicle driven by a 38-year-old man was traveling in the opposite direction turned left to go north on Broad Street when he struck the bicyclist.
Police are still investigating this incident. They say that the traffic light was green at the time of the crash, but they will be looking into whether the driver should have yielded the right-of-way to the bicyclist.
Police say that the woman is not expected to survive her injuries.
