From the Bill Cosby sexual assault scandal, to the decision in Dollar General Corporation v. Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, 2016 has seen the spread of sexual assault awareness nationwide. Rebecca O’ Connor, the vice president of public policy for the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN) said that the prevalence of headline-grabbing sexual assaults reported on in 2016 has produced a “tremendous opportunity” to open dialogue and provide education on sexual assault.
